The story of Daniel Hartono is proof that hard work, resilience, and vision can change a person’s destiny. Once a street vendor selling fried bananas on the streets of Jakarta, Daniel is now the founder and CEO of Hartono Foods Group, one of Indonesia’s leading food and beverage companies.
Daniel’s humble beginnings date back to 2005 when, at the age of 19, he had to leave school to help his family financially. Armed with nothing but a small cart and his mother’s secret banana fritter recipe, Daniel spent years working under the scorching sun and heavy rains. Despite facing countless challenges, he refused to give up.
In 2010, Daniel took a leap of faith by opening his first small food stall. His unique recipe and customer-first attitude quickly gained attention. Over time, his business grew into a franchise. Today, Hartono Foods Group operates more than 150 outlets across Indonesia and employs over 2,000 people.
“I never imagined I would get this far. I just wanted to help my family survive,” Daniel said with teary eyes during an interview. “But with faith and consistency, everything is possible.”
Daniel is now recognized as one of Forbes Indonesia’s 30 Most Influential Entrepreneurs and actively contributes to social programs focused on youth entrepreneurship and poverty alleviation.
“Daniel’s story is the true definition of turning passion into success,” said Rina Susilo, an economic analyst. “He is an inspiration for many young Indonesians who dream of building something from nothing.”
